| On Friday, March 14th, the Wading River Fire Department was honored by the Daughters of the American Revolution for the many years of community service it has provided to the residents of Wading River.
The honor was not just for the rescue and fire service performed every day by the volunteers, but for service to the community, most notably, from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day, such as the Stuff-A-Bus food drive.
The Chief of the Department, Thomas Whelan, and members Tim Deveny, Phil Thompson, Hunter Thompson, George Besold, Doug Carlen, and Scott Engelhardt accepted the award and a donation from the Daughters of the American Revolution on behalf of the Wading River Fire Department.
The Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism across the United States. They are devoted to the Founding Fathers and promote respect for the Constitution in the community. |
