On Friday March 4th 2022 at approximately 9:15 AM Wading River Fire Department was activated for a small brush fire on the edge of NYS Rt 25 in the vicinity of Calverton National Cemetery. Under the direction of Lieutenant Jim Meier (6-3-62), WRFD responded with 9 members and 3 pieces of apparatus. On scene they extinguished a 50 X 50 foot area of fire. As a reminder, please do not discard any cigarettes or other smoking material out of a vehicle. Please dispose of these items in an appropriate container.
