On Sunday May 19, 2019 at approximately 1519 hrs the Department responded to the Long Island Sound for a reported Water Rescue.
Department Members were advised by FRES of a male subject clinging onto an Kayak that was occupied by two minors, near Wildwood State Park, in rough surf conditions.

Wading River Fire Boat 6-3-18B along with Riverhead Police Dept. Marine Boat, and Riverhead Fire Boat were guided in by WRFD Command, who had visual contact, to the exact location of the troubled Kiakers. Within minutes, when on scene, three people were successfully rescued and transported to shore, to awaiting emergency medical personnel. They were treated and transported by Wading River Fire Dept. Ambulance to a local hospital.
Riverhead Police Dept. Marine Boat, and Riverhead Fire Boats recovered two Kayaks and returned them to shore.

All units were back in service at 1630hrs.

At 1918 hrs WRFD responded to a Water Rescue of a disabled boat with three occupants off Shoreham Power Plant. Suffolk County Marine Delta responded and rendered aid to the disabled boat.
