On Tuesday March 6, 2018 at approximately 1301hrs, the Department responded to 29 Sylvan Dr. Wading River for a reported residential structure fire with an occupant possibly trapped within.
Upon arrival an active fire was present. Department Members quickly entered the structure and performed a primary search which yielded negative results of any person(s) within. The fire was quickly extinguished preventing further damage to the home and contents within.
During the operation it was discovered several houses in the neighborhood suffered small fires or damage due to an electrical issue within the neighborhood.
The Wading River Fire Department was assisted by several neighboring Fire Departments with extinguishment and checking additional houses for further damage.
At the completion of the incident 7 houses suffered damage and no injures were reported. The scene was turned over to PSEG and the Riverhead Town Fire Marshals Office for further investigation. Units were back in service at 1439hrs.

Units: Chief 30, Chief 32, Medic 80, Tanker 2, Fire Police 3, Engine 6, Engine 11, & Ambulance 16
 
Mutual Aid: Riverhead, Ridge, Rocky Point, Manorville, Sound Beach & Miller Place Fire Departments.
